DOW MEDICAL COLLEGE


Dow Medical College (DMC) was founded in 1945, by converting the old medical school of Hyderabad, which was originally started by Dr. Homestead in 1881. Subsequently the College was shifted to function in old N.J.V. High School Building, Karachi, at the beginning of 1946. Dr. Hemandas R. Wadhwani, the Minister of Public Health and Medicine of Sindh Government took keen interest in the establishment of this institution along with Sir Hugh Dow, then Governor of Sindh, helped in establishing this college. The college was subsequently named after him.

Farewell Dinner in Honor of Retired Faculty


A Farewell Dinner was hosted to appreciate the services of the Faculty which retired during the time period of April 2017 to December 2021.

Faculty is a very important asset of any University and this needs to be acknowledged, cherished, and honored for its significance in shaping the future and quality education of our students. In this regard, Dow University of Health Sciences hosted a Farewell Dinner on Friday, 03rd December 2021 at the Dow Medical College campus. 83 retired faculty members were invited along with their spouses. They were honored with the award of shields during the ceremony. This was followed by a musical evening to entertain the guests.

The most notable senior faculty invited included Prof. Mohammed Saeed Quraishy Meritorious Prof. of Surgery and Vice Chancellor DUHS, Prof. Zarnaz Wahid, Meritorious Professor of Dermatology, Prof. Kartar Dawani, Prof. of Pathology-HOD and former Principal DMC,, Prof. Khawar Jamali, former Prof. of Surgery, , and Prof. Nusrat Shah, Prof. of Gynecology, Prof. Abu Talib, retired Prof. of Medicine and former Principal of DMC among others.

The event was also attended by the honorable Principles, Directors, and Deans of the constituent institutes of DUHS with their spouses, however, the event was organized and attended following all relevant COVID-19 SOPs.
