The Dow International Medical College (DIMC) was established in 2007 by the visionary Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences to facilitate the children of overseas Pakistanis residing all around the world.

Introduction


The Dow International Medical College (DIMC) was established in 2007 by the visionary Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences to facilitate the children of overseas Pakistanis residing all around the world.

DIMC is a constituent college of Dow University of Health Sciences admitting 150 MBBS students per year, specifically to facilitate the medical education for the children of overseas Pakistanis residing all around the world. DIMC is following the annual system as per the directives of PM&DC. A spirally integrated modular curriculum has been adopted by Dow University of Health Sciences since 2009. The DIMC is included in WHO directory & IMED-FAIMER. 

The college building is state-of-the-art with a constructed area of 200,000 square feet. The college has five fully equipped laboratories including the Power Lab well established Anatomy and Forensic Museum, exotic Dow Animal House harboring horses, rats and mice of different type strains, rabbits, monkeys and snakes for research purposes, skill lab for undergraduates & postgraduates and Professional Development Centre for Faculty development & training. The college has a huge three storied library with book section, digital library with three hundred workstations, reading room & video conferencing room. 

DIMC currently having two affiliated teaching hospitals at Ojha Campus (i.e. Dow University Hospital Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases), the medical college has magnificently grown its clinical services through Dow University Hospital a 600 bedded facility with a flourished OPD Block with busy clinics of medicine, surgery and its allied disciplines respectively where students are provided with an integrated modular training. Marvelous Diagnostic and Research Facilities of the college has gained a great attention of the Karachi city. These facilities were established by building the Dow Diagnostic Research and Reference Laboratories and Radiology Diagnostic Complex. Moreover, two institutes, National Institute of Liver & Gastrointestinal Diseases and National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology are not only providing medical education to students but also providing commendable diagnostic and treatment services to patients. 

Beautifully built male and female hostels along with mess facilities are also provided within the Ojha Campus in a secure environment. The facilities including a large cricket ground and state of the art Gymnasium in the DIMC campus also provides the opportunity to the students with indoor and outdoor extracurricular activities.

DIMC is striving to constantly improve and facilitate children of overseas Pakistanis and look forward to collaborating and working in this regard with doctors serving aboard.
