Dow Institute for Advanced Biological and Animal Research

Introduction

Department of Laboratory Animal Sciences (LAS) is imperative to produce beneficial information regarding health sciences. This basic facility was established in 2008 and holds various Laboratory animal species while Advanced Animal Facility and Research Laboratory has been specially designed in progression of LAS for the knockout rodents. The advanced facility has exquisitely controlled environment for the maintenance of healthcare and husbandry of experimental animals and has new experimental laboratories to empower the biomedical research by providing critical resources, tools and services. Our pre-clinical services offer robust scientific expertise, numerous in life and end point measurements and customizable study design for evaluation of novel therapeutic agents in accordance with Institutional regulations and guidelines.

Our advanced systems display traditional experimental set-up that are commonly used to investigate the physiology and pharmacology of in vitro tissue preparations using state of the art instruments. Various other equipment for the behavioral examination of experimental animals in relevance to cardiac diseases, neurological disorders, inflammatory diseases and muscular dystrophy are available. Currently the Advanced Laboratory deals with the projects related to Hyperlipidemia and Atherosclerosis, Immune and Inflammatory models including Arthritis, Diabetic and wound healing models, Hepatocellular carcinoma and many others in highly contained environment

Laboratory Animal Sciences governs its systems by following the guidelines of Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) and Institutional Review Board (IRB) for Animal Research and Ethics.
