NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DIABETES & ENDOCRINOLOGY (NIDE) was established in 2006 at the OJHA Campus of Dow University of Health Sciences. It provides consultation and counseling to patients suffering from Diabetes and other Endocrine diseases. This institute is offering M.Sc. Diabetes and Endocrinology Program.

Overview


NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DIABETES & ENDOCRINOLOGY (NIDE)  is a teaching institute at Dow University of Health Sciences which deals with hormone related disorders. It is committed to providing the highest quality of healthcare to patients with diabetes, endocrine and metabolic disorders. It is recognized for 2 year post graduate training (FCPS) in Endocrinology by College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSP) Pakistan. In addition, MSc in Diabetes and Endocrinology program has trained many young physicians..

The National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology also conducts public awareness programs regularly as the prevalence of diabetes and endocrine diseases are on the rise in Pakistan. The institute has facilities for management and treatment of eye complications of diabetes through its Eye Care Center, which has the capability of performing:

  • Complete Eye Examinations
  • Screening for Diabetic Retinopathy
  • Fundus Fluorescein Angiography
  • Laser photocoagulation

More than 5000 patients have been registered until now. A comprehensive facility offers consultation about diabetics’ food care, complete with early diagnosis and treatment based facilities for other endocrine diseases, especially thyroid diseases, growth disorders and even obesity.
