History

Dow Dental College (DDC) was established in 2012 with the vision of achieving professional excellence in the dental sciences. The original college building was inaugurated by the former Principal of Dow Medical College, Prof Sharif Chaudhry, on November 7th, 2012. The Outpatient Department (OPD) of Dow Dental College commenced its operations in October 2012, and in the same year, the first batch of 50 students was admitted after receiving approval from PM&DC.

Subsequently, the college underwent a transformation with the construction of a new purpose-built facility in November 2018. This development was made possible through funding from HEC and local grants, aimed at enhancing the quality of teaching and training in Dental Sciences in Karachi. The newly constructed Dow Dental College facility boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure, equipped with cutting-edge facilities for both teaching and research. This seven-story edifice was erected with a funding grant from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The inauguration ceremony took place on April 23rd, 2018, and was honored by the presence of Federal Minister for Interior, Planning, Development and Reform, Dr Ahsan Iqbal. The project was completed within the designated timeframe, underscoring its efficiency.

Dow Dental College is committed to the continuous enhancement of its clinical services and student training. This commitment is reflected in the acquisition of advanced equipment and the implementation of faculty development projects. These initiatives align with the overarching mission of the University to provide excellence in teaching and training within the realm of dental sciences.
