Message By the Director, Dr. Talat Roome, Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi

I am pleased to welcome all the Scientists, Researchers, Faculty members, Graduate and Post graduate students from all Colleges and Institutes of the Dow University of Health Sciences to the Department of Laboratory Animal Sciences (LAS) and Advanced Animal House Facility & Research Laboratory, DUHS.

The Department of Laboratory Animal Sciences was founded in December, 2008 and executed by Scientific, Technical and Administrative personnel. This facility provides great opportunity to clinicians and biomedical scientists to deal with wide array of Pharmacological, Toxicological and Preclinical studies.

In the continuation of innovation, The Advanced Animal House Facility and Research Laboratory has been established as an extension of LAS in January, 2017 in the premises of the Campus to conduct specialized research on various Diseased-Models to address the global quest in different fields including, Genetics, Cell and Molecular Biology, Physiology, Anatomy, Pathology and Immunology etc. incorporating both genetically modified and wild type rodents.

This well-equipped facility provides assistance to researchers for identification of new biomarkers, therapeutic targets and treatment strategies in advancement of translational research and human health.
