The Quality Enhancement Cell at Dow University of Health Sciences was established in the 1st phase of HEC implementation in 2006, along with 29 other cells in various public sector universities throughout Pakistan.

  1. The Dow University of Health Sciences' (DUHS) Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) organized a session on "Preparing Program Self-Assessment Reports (SAR)" on January 12th, 2023. The session aimed to highlight the importance of SAR in ensuring program quality.  The event gathered SAR Program Team members and other stakeholders to understand the role of self-assessment in maintaining academic standards. Led by experts, the session explained how SARs help evaluate program strengths and areas for growth. Attendees learned about data collection, analysis, and improvement strategies.

  1. Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) took a vital step towards ensuring quality education by organizing a training session for the Quality Enhancement Cells of Affiliated Colleges (QECACs). The session, hosted by DUHS's Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC-DUHS), aimed to reinforce internal quality assurance practices. Held on February 6th, 2023, the training focused on familiarizing participants with the roles and responsibilities of QECACs, in line with the policies of the Higher Education Commission (HEC). DUHS's dedication to maintaining HEC's quality standards across its affiliated institutions was evident. This event reflects DUHS's proactive approach in fostering excellence throughout its network of colleges by cultivating a culture of continuous improvement.

  1. Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) recently completed a comprehensive self-review of its MS, MPhil, and Ph.D. programs, in accordance with the Quality Assurance Agency of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The review, managed by DUHS's Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), spanned three days from February 20th to 22nd, 2023.

The review process was split into two days for the OJHA campus (20th-21st Feb) and one day for the DMC campus (22nd Feb).

The review team included:

    2. Prof. Rabia Bushra - Chairperson- Department of Pharmaceutics, DCOP (Internal Reviewer)
    3. Dr. Fakhsheena Anjum - Associate Professor, DCOP & Director, Institute of Health Sciences (Internal Reviewer)
    4. Dr. Bilal Azmi - Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry, DMC (Internal Reviewer)
    5. Ms. Sanam Soomro - Director QEC, DUHS, Karachi (Internal Reviewer)
    6. Ms. Shehla Naz - Deputy Director QEC, DUHS, Karachi (Internal Reviewer)

Throughout the review, the team visited facilities, engaged with faculty, students, Deans, Principles, HoDs, and Program Coordinators. The final day included a briefing with DUHS Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Saeed Qureshi, where the team shared insights on program performance. This review underscores DUHS's dedication to maintaining quality in its postgraduate offerings.

  1. The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) organized the Professional English Language Training Program from May 2nd to May 6th, 2023. This initiative aimed to enhance faculty members' ability to communicate effectively in academic settings. By offering essential tools for proficient interaction, QEC is actively supporting educators in becoming more confident and skilled communicators within their professional roles. This endeavor underscores QEC's commitment to empowering faculty and fostering a stronger academic community.

  1. Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) successfully completed a Self-Institutional Performance Evaluation (IPE) organized by its Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC-DUHS). This evaluation took place from May 9th to 11th, 2023. Officials from DUHS's QEC diligently reviewed the institution's performance against the quality standards recommended by the Quality Assurance Agency of the Higher Education Commission (QAA-HEC). This initiative reflects DUHS's ongoing commitment to maintaining and elevating educational excellence.

  1. In a significant move to improve the quality of higher education in Pakistan, a team from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) recently visited the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS). This visit, held on May 24, 2023, was led by Mr. Muhammad Afzal, the HEC Consultant for capacity building of QECACs. The focus of the visit was to review and evaluate the progress and activities of the QEC Affiliated Colleges (QECAC). The HEC team discussed the implementation of the reorganization of QEC-DUHS, in which QECACs are embedded, involving units in the activities of affiliated colleges to enhance the quality of education, and the review and collection of data for third-party verification. This visit highlights HEC's dedication to improving higher education standards nationwide. The HEDP Project goes beyond just making policies; it also involves practical assessments and guidance, ensuring that educational institutions can offer top-notch education to students."

  1. QEC-DUHS organized a session on the "Future of Quality and Organizational Excellence" on June 6th, 2023. Speakers Mr. Atif Shahab Butt and Dr. Muhammad Wasif shared insights into emerging trends and strategies for achieving excellence. They discussed technology, changing expectations, and best practices, providing valuable perspectives for attendees.
