Hina Siddique

I am Hina Siddique, batch of 2013 Dow College of Pharmacy. My teachers at DCOP always encouraged to get some exposure of professional world and as a result I did four internships including clinical, hospital and pharmaceutical industry during my graduation. I joined Sanofi in May 2014 and despite starting my career in Quality, I had an opportunity to gain sufficient exposure of various functions in the pharmaceutical industry which helped me in identifying my interest and I decided to pursue a career in marketing. I knew in order to switch to my aspired role in marketing, I have to start doing my MBA. But I wanted to do it from IBA only so I took the admission and simultaneously got a role as an assistant brand manager at BU Cardiology. Got promoted to Brand Manager and soon after that I had my first lovely baby boy Ebrahim. In 2020, Sanofi established an MCE Department and offered me a Multichannel Engagement Manager role. Little did I know, that this will ultimately lead me to a wonderful role in ABBOTT USA in 2022 when we decided to move to the United States as a family. I started applying for marketing roles in US through LinkedIn and landed a job at Abbott USA. Now when I look back, and connect the dots I can see that my graduation in Pharmacy, MBA in marketing, exposure to Cardiology market and experience in Multi Channel Marketing, all led me to my current role at Abbott as US Product Manager, where I am responsible for marketing of Insertable Cardiac Monitors for US Market. Within my first six months, I was fortunate to get an opportunity to launch my first product in US market and receive an Abbott Excellence Award. I would love to help my fellow Dow graduates when they need any guidance relevant to my experience. I’ll always be grateful that I found amazing professors (Dr. Sumbul Shamim, Sir Omair Anwar) at Dow (Dr. Nida Asalam Khan) at IBA and sincere mentors (Ehtesham Ul Haque, Yasir Ahmed and Shakeel Mapara) at Sanofi through out my graduation and career. Most importantly, I will always be thankful to my parents who encouraged me to strive for excellence in education and I feel whatever I have achieved today is all because of their prayers and blessings.

Umber Saeed

“I am Umber Saeed, Pharm-D graduate from Dow College of Pharmacy (Batch 2012-2016), Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi, Pakistan and this is my success story.

Driven by my passion for research, during my undergraduate studies, I worked in a team to develop an expert system for monitoring and counseling cancer patients at home and a portable device for early detection of breast cancer. In 2015, we got recognition award at national level. I also studied metabolomics and its application in cancer research. In 2016, I presented this research in an international conference in Dubai as youngest oral speaker.

This passion substantially translated into my career. In 2019, during my second year of Future Leaders Program at GSK, I was nominated for an International Assignment where I worked as Senior Scientist on an alliance project between GSK and Lyell. I worked on CAR-T, TCR and immuno-oncology assets with the best scientists from all around the world in Oncology Cell Therapy Research Unit based in Stevenage, UK.
Soon after, I joined GSK Global Clinical Trials team in 2021 and supported one of the most critical process of Informed Consent Form. In this role, I worked on supporting medicine and vaccine clinical trials held in different countries along with being a change lead and SME for significant changes associated at global and country level.
I am now working as R&D Project Manager in vaccine discovery in GSK Vaccines Institute for Global Health (GVGH) based in Siena Italy. In this role, I am working on vaccine discovery and development for lower income countries.
My career journey is not by accident. I have always believed in the best possible way to reach my goal and then, given my innate potential, assimilated knowledge, and positive attitude to make it a reality.
I am grateful to the teachers who supported my vision during my university time and helped me understand the potential to explore the world of research.”
