Nutrition in Chronic diseases, Dietary Patterns, Cultural competency in Nutrition education & adolescent health with particular interest in lifestyle behaviors.

  • Delta Omega Public Health Award nominated by University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA and inducted by Delta Omega Public Health Honorary Society of Accredited Schools and Programs of Public Health in USA in 2013.
  • Certificate of Excellence in Clinical Nutrition Consultancy & Development of Food Service System in Pakistan by RLAK, Govt. College of Home. Economics, Karachi in 2011.
  • Fulbright Scholarship for PhD at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA from 2008-2012.
  • Hubert Humphrey Fellowship for one year mid-career professional training at Cornell University, Ithaca, USA in 1987-1988.

 

Major Research Grants/Projects:
 

  • Nutrition Consultant for Institute of Rural Management (IRM) to develop Nutrition Manual and Training of Trainers in Sindh Livestock Sector for Capacity Building for Accelerated Action Plan for Reduction of Stunting and Malnutrition in Pakistan from 2019-2021.
  • National Consultant  for Australian Govt. & Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO), for Development of  Nutrition Specific And Nutrition Sensitive Behavior Change Communication (Bcc) Strategy For Rural women In Baluchistan from 2018-2020.
  • Nutrition International research grant on “Choices of Adolescents and Testing the Efficiency of Smart Phone Aided Nutrition Education Program”. Supervisor and co-investigator of the research.  From 2017-2019.
  • Higher Education Commission (HEC) grant under NRPU-2014 to research “Association between micronutrient level and CVD risk factors among Pakistani adolescents”: Grant initiated October 2016- 2018.
  • Consultancy grant To conduct a workshop for Capacity Building Expert on “Scientific/Technical Writing Skills” to members of “Scaling up Nutrition Research & Advocacy (SUNAR)” in Pakistan: 2017
  • Consultancy grants to conduct training of Nutrition Cell Officers (20) from Sind Government on “Introductory course in Public Health Nutrition” from 31st Aug - 4th Sept 2015.
  • The British Council Funded Research Grant in collaboration with our team members from the UK conducted the 5-day workshop on "Nutrition Policy to Practice in Pakistan: Exploring the Challenges & Research Opportunities:” in Islamabad, Pakistan. Workshop was held from 8-12 March 2015
