It gives me great pleasure to write these lines for the web page of the National Institute of Diabetes & Endocrinology, being Vice Chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi. Looking at the high prevalence of Diabetes and Endocrine diseases at the National & International levels, it was a real need to establish state of the art high quality standard health institution.

The National Institute of Diabetes & Endocrinology was established in 2006. It is the first institution of its kind in Pakistan where not only excellent healthcare facilities are available for in and outpatients in public sector healthcare universities, but also the experts in Diabetes & Endocrine diseases are being produced to provide excellent healthcare facilities in relevant fields not only cities but also in remote areas of Pakistan.

This institution provides a central place for the training of both undergraduate and postgraduate doctors. And now Alhamdulillah, this institution is now providing a Diploma program in the field of Diabetes & Endocrinology, to meet the need of country to improve quality of life of diabetic patients by providing excellent health care.
