Overview
Oral Pathology is the study of the cause and effect of oral diseases. The department provides an overview of oral and maxillofacial pathology, including clinical and histopathologic features. The goal is to develop dental students’ knowledge and skill in comprehensive patient evaluation and diagnosis in preparation for treatment planning/disease prevention/health promotion. The department’s curriculum is integrated with other departments in the DIKIOHS. It emphasizes the responsibility of the dentist to see problems affecting the oral region in the context of overall health status. In addition to the routine microscopic changes, the students learn the cellular, ultrastructural and molecular changes related to the disease.
