Regional Blood Center

World Blood Donor Day is observed on 14th June every year to raise awareness about the importance of donating blood and to thank blood donors worldwide. It aims to promote voluntary, safe, and regular blood donations to ensure a sufficient supply of blood for those in need. The day also highlights the critical role of blood donors in saving lives and encourages more people to become regular blood donors.

To celebrate World Blood Donor Day 2023 a three-day blood drive was planned by the Regional Blood Centre DUHS with the collaboration of students of DPCA and CARE students. It was an incredible start to a three-day activity.

The first day was nothing short of amazing, with a tremendous turnout of enthusiastic students and generous blood donors.

The Regional Blood Center has created a marvelous ambiance for this noble cause. The vivid atmosphere was evident proof of the efforts put in by our student organizing teams from Dow Patient Care Association (DPCA) and CARE Students Federation. The facility was decorated with colorful balloons and ribbons. There were cream and cold drink stalls. There were fun booths for photography, painting a memory, and a message wall, where the

Donor histories were taken through software built on International Safe Blood Transfusion Standards (ISNT128). This seamless and paperless workflow enables the blood center to be able to deal with large volumes of unit throughput safely, fully enabling the timely collection and supply of blood and blood products. The blood donors enjoyed the upgraded process and appreciated the knitted teamwork of the entire Blood Centre team. At the end of their donations, donors were served with Juices and biscuits to replenish their volume and energy. The spirit of voluntary blood donors was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed the whole process.
