Overview
Perfusionists are considered vital members of the Cardiac surgery team; they are responsible for operating the heart-lung machine and other ancillary equipment that allows the patient to remain alive while the heart and lungs are arrested. The primary role of the perfusionist is to facilitate the surgeon with a motionless and bloodless field while operating various equipment independently to keep the patient's body parameters regular. Dow Institute of Medical Technology established the department of perfusion sciences in 2011; the degree offered is BS MT in Perfusion Sciences. Dow University of Health Sciences is also the pioneering institution in Pakistan to be awarded the BS four-year degree in Perfusion Sciences. The graduates from this department are currently working all over Pakistan and worldwide, such as in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, and Oman. We produce the best perfusionist in the field through proper education, learning, assessment, and hands-on training.
