Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan Institute of Oral Health Sciences (DIKIOHS) was established in the year 2006, as per the vision of the honorable Vice Chancellor for the enhancement of academic excellence, an increase of human resources & provision of excellent community health care.

DIKIOHS is the most modern Institute in Pakistan, fully equipped with the latest equipment and health care facilities and supervised by highly qualified dental surgeons scarcely found in Pakistan. Envision to be a Centre of excellence for dental education; it offers Undergraduate BDS & BS (Dental Care Professionals), Postgraduates (MDS, MSc & FCPS); besides these programs, it is a recognized institute by PM& DC & CPSP.

The Total Duration of the Undergraduates Programs (BDS & BS-DCP) is of four years each, the duration of Postgraduate Programs (MDS, FCPS) is of 4 Years, and (MSc Program) is of 2 Years. Both undergraduate & Postgraduate program is reinforced by research components as an integral part.

The first Batch for the Undergraduate Program BDS was inducted in 2006 – 2007 as per PM& DC rules and regulations. A School for Dental Care Professionals was established in 2007 to train Dental Hygienists and Technologists.

The Master of Dental Surgery (MDS-Basic Sciences) program was started in 2008 and aimed to produce quality teachers and researchers in different disciplines of Basic Dental Science (ie, Science of Dental Materials, Oral Pathology, Oral Biology, and Community Dentistry).

The Master of Dental Surgery (MDS-Clinical Sciences) program was started in 2009 and aimed to produce quality clinicians, teachers, and researchers in different disciplines of Clinical Dental Science (ie, Operative Dentistry, Orthodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and Prosthodontics).

Master of Sciences in Dentistry (MSc-Basic & Clinical Sciences) programs were started in 2014 and aimed to produce quality clinicians, teachers, and researchers in different disciplines of Basic Dental Science (ie, Science of Dental Materials, Oral Pathology, Oral Biology, and Community Dentistry) and Clinical Sciences (ie, Operative Dentistry, Orthodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Oral Medicine and Periodontology).

DIKIOHS is also a center of excellence for FCPS training in different Specialties (eg, Operative Dentistry, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, and Prosthodontics) are doing its training under the guidance of CPSP-approved Supervisors. All the activities at the university level are being vigilantly monitored and evaluated by the quality enhancement cell under the supreme direction of the Director of QEC & QMR for the said department.

The institute has well equipped and specious lecture hall for lecture delivery. The lab works are conducted in the well-equipped labs associated with the departments. The institute has the Central Store to provide materials to the primary and clinical departments.

The salient features of this institute are the smooth-running clinical dental OPDs which are fully equipped with the state of the art equipment for the standard delivery of dental procedures. The institute encourages co-curricular and extra-curricular events at periodic intervals as part of curricular activities.
