Overview

Department of Operative dentistry has a vital clinical and academic role in the Bachelor of Dental Surgery course. It provides undergraduate students with a foundation of knowledge and develops skills in Operative dentistry, Endodontics & Pediatric Dentistry.

The Department is well-equipped with all the latest materials and equipment to treat patients with operative and endodontic procedures to restore missing or lost tooth structures. Dentistry is also introduced to children in fun & nurturing environment on designated dental chairs for pediatric patients.

We have a high turnover of daily patients and proudly serve to the maximum capacity with ethics & professionalism.  The Department of Operative Dentistry has a very dedicated faculty. It plays a vital role in laying the basic concepts of dentistry in second-year BDS pre-clinical dental students in the phantom head lab and later clinical exposure in 3rd year and 4th-year clinical students.

In the Operative clinic, students learn about caries diagnosis, prevention, repair & restorative techniques. Operative Dentistry encompasses the specialties of restorative, endodontic & pedodontics. Our Department also trains interns in their rotation as part of their one-year house job. The Department is recognized for postgraduate training for FCPS by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. FCPS and MDS postgraduate trainees carry out advanced procedures as part of their training and conduct research in the Department.

Our ultimate clinical goal is to make quality treatment accessible to ordinary people, and our teaching goal is to produce dentists who can translate their knowledge into clinical practice. We aspire to have dentists who are lifelong learners & are competent in providing comprehensive restorative and rehabilitative treatment for their patients and eventually serve as a resource for oral health care.
