Haematology is the study of blood and blood disorders. These vary from anemia to diseases such as leukemia. While many of these patients are undergoing investigations and treatments for blood cancers, others have non-cancerous disorders. There are patients with some blood disorders who may require bone marrow transplantation for getting cure from their diseases.

Dow University of Health Sciences

"Clinical Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) is one of the most unique and dynamic specialties in medicine, driven by continuous research leading to successful treatments for numerous blood diseases.

Our country was in dire need of a robust Hematology and BMT facility in a public sector hospital, given that a significant portion of our population cannot afford the expensive treatments required for blood disorders, especially those involving blood cancers and bone marrow transplantation.

Recognizing this critical need, the University made the decision to establish a comprehensive Clinical Hematology and BMT program with the mission to provide standard and cost-effective care to patients with hematological conditions. Simultaneously, we aspire to become the national center of excellence in the field of Clinical Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation.

Our program is founded on the intent to offer all essential elements of care to our people under one roof, encompassing diagnostics, treatment, prevention, research, and the preparation of competent physicians, nurses, and pharmacists for the community through high-quality training programs.

We have introduced a unique concept known as the 'one corridor service' for the convenience of our patients, ensuring that all facilities, including clinics, lab collection, pharmacy, day care unit, in-patient ward, as well as leukemia and BMT units, are located on the same floor of the hospital.

Our team consists of clinical hematologists and bone marrow transplant physicians with international experience, along with competent nurses and pharmacists. We take great pride in the dedication and personal commitment of our team members to the well-being and care of our patients."
