Oral medicine is an emerging sub-specialty of dentistry and deals with diagnosing and treating non-surgical cases/lesions of the oro-facial region (Oro facial pain, oral ulcers, infections, TMJ disorders, etc. Oral medicine is a sub-specialty but an important area of dentistry. The specialty is also concerned with the oral healthcare of patients with chronic, recurrent disorders of the oral and maxillofacial region and their diagnosis and non-surgical (medical) management. It also deals with oral manifestations of systemic diseases.
