Overview
The department is located at the DIKIOHS (3rd floor of DIMC building), Ojha campus. The department comprises six senior and four junior faculty members and has contributed towards teaching and research in areas of restorative & endodontics. The department deals with both undergraduate (BDS Second, third & final year) and postgraduate (MDS/FCPS) students. The main object of including a course in restorative dentistry & endodontics in any program is to enable the students to know Operative instrumentation, dental terminology & tooth anatomy. Assess and manage medical emergencies and problems. Have sound knowledge of radiological techniques and interpretation. To assess the pathological and protective factors related to caries initiation, progression, and prevention and apply the principles of clinical intervention in the caries process, and how to put this into dental practice.
In addition to routine lectures and practical phantom lab classes, various teaching aids such as tutorials, presentations, and small group discussions are used to bring about a sense of competence and confidence among candidates. The assessment of undergraduate students is based on a midterm examination, objective structured practical examination (OSPE), and periodic internal evaluation.
The faculty members of the Department are well-educated and highly skilled at teaching, edifying, and enlightening their students. The faculty has given them several growth opportunities and excels in their career and supported their research by providing access to clinical phantom head labs. Currently, the department has 18 FCPS and 4 MDS students.
