Overview
The daily routine work, which comprises academic activities and dental OPD in the department of periodontology, is managed by a departmental team comprising faculty members, dental assistants, dental house officers (on a rotation basis), and third-year undergraduate students (on a rotation basis).
A) Academic activities:
Periodontology is a teaching subject in 3rd year BDS program. We have 50 undergraduate students. The students were provided with the following:
- 1. Power point lectures.
- 2. Videos will be shown in lectures.
- 3. Handouts.
- 4. Preparation for Exams.
B) Dental OPD:
We have 15 dental units in the Periodontology department as per PMC rules and regulations. The daily patient outcome is almost 25 to 30 and we are also conducting a free weekly dental camp every year.
We diagnose and managing the patient’s periodontal problems with non-surgical and surgical periodontal procedures like dental implants, gingivectomy, gingivoplasty, frenectomy, scaling, curettage, fluoride, teeth whitening, and polishing, etc.
