The scale of globalisation realised in 21st century, the advancement in technology and communication has not only hastened the pace of ‘knowledge transfer’ in terms of sharing of best practices from one setting to the other but has also made health systems, services, and facilities more accountable in terms of compliance with the global standards and modern trends in service delivery. Likewise, the patients and populations have become more empowered in terms of being more knowledgeable and aware of their rights and demand quality healthcare. The provision of efficient, effective, quality and patient-centred health services demands excellence not only in clinical spheres but also in the management and support services along the spectrum of service delivery.
This 16-week intensive course aims to equip the participants with the core knowledge in the business areas and domains while also providing a sound orientation to the prevalent best practices in the healthcare and hospital management in terms of promoting quality and service excellence, effective communication and marketing of hospital services, strategic management, and leadership of health services as well as performance management, monitoring & evaluation for continuous improvement. The course will impart practical skills in terms of business writing and communication, formulating strategic objectives and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), preparing service feasibility, design, and planning, implementing service quality and improvement plans, evaluating the outcomes, and developing productive workforce and leadership.
Objectives
After completing this course, the students/participants will be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of core business and management areas and their relevance to the wider healthcare sector and hospital services management.
Analyse healthcare market, competition, and wider societal and business environment to formulate SMART objectives and relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Develop implementation plans, as well as track, monitor, and evaluate progress and outcomes.
Promote service excellence and quality improvement as well as teamwork and leadership in their work environments demonstrating understanding of best practices in communication, patient safety as well as service delivery standards.
