Dr. Sadaf Ahmed Asim, Head of the Department of Dermatology at DIMC, led an engaging academic session on May 20, 2025, as the main program director. The session, titled "The Evolving Role of Newer Antihistamines in Dermatology," was organized in collaboration with Dr. Sadia (Assistant Professor) and her team due to high demand and interest.The session focused on interactive discussions about different antihistamines, their mechanisms, and patient-specific considerations. It included simplified teaching, addressed academic queries, and concluded with a quiz to enhance trainee engagement.

From heart to heart, across generationsOn 17th May 2025, the Health-Related Conferences Society, Dow Students Global Scholars Community, in collaboration with the Directorate of Global Engagement, DUHS, brought smiles, songs, and support to our elders through mental health awareness sessions at the Anmol Zindagi Old Age Home.

Child Abuse Training Workshop for Health Care ProvidersThe Department of Pediatrics at Dow Medical College / Dow University of Health Sciences / Dr. Ruth K. M. Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, in collaboration with the Konpal Child Abuse Prevention Society, organized a hands-on capacity-building workshop on Children's Rights and Early Case Detection, Management, and Timely Referral of Child Abuse and Neglect on May 14, 2025, at the Professional Development Centre, DUHS.

On the occasion of World Mother’s Day, the Department of Pediatrics, Unit I, at Dow Medical College / Dow University of Health Sciences / Dr. Ruth K. M. Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, in collaboration with the Konpal Child Abuse Prevention Society, organized a capacity-building workshop on 10th May 2025 for mothers who are care providers for their children admitted with various ailments in Pediatrics Unit I, DMC/DUHS/CHK.Mothers are crucial stakeholders in child protection and play an important role in the safety net. We aim to build this net in the Department of Pediatrics, DUHS, to protect children from abuse, violence, and neglect by joining hands with KONPAL as a vital member of this safety net.

The workshop was facilitated by Prof. Muzamil Shabana Ejaz, Chairperson of the Department of Pediatrics at DUHS and Head of Pediatrics Unit I, along with Dr. Hafiza Sania, Senior Registrar in Pediatrics Unit I, and Mr. Muhammed Adil from KONPAL Society. They provided counseling to mothers on various aspects of child care, including breastfeeding, nutritional care, and prevention and awareness regarding child abuse and neglect. The facilitators also addressed queries from the mothers on these topics.

At the end of the workshop, certificates were distributed to the participating mothers, and feedback was collected from them.
