Overview
To provide Interventional Radiology Fellows with an organized, comprehensive, supervised, full-time educational experience in vascular interventional radiology including the ability to provide consultation and case selection, perform the full array of vascular and interventional procedures, identify and manage potential complications, provide appropriate peri-procedure care, and assist in long-term management integrated with the clinical management of referring physicians.
Eligibility Criteria
- FCPS or equivalent in Diagnostics Radiology
- Minimum 6 months post FCPS Clinic Experiences
Criteria for Selection: Candidate will be selected on Merit basic on:
- Written entry test
- Panel Interview by VIR experts
Curriculum Overview
Three months hands on training
At the end of course candidate has to take a BCQ examination and hands on exit examination with log book completion
All procedures done in Interventional radiology (IR) suite including MDT and Journal clubs etc.
Duration of Fellowship
Total 12 Months breakup as follows
Working Weekly Schedule
- 3 days training in vascular : Emergency Calls 4 month (9am – 9 pm)
- 3 days training in Non-Vascular: On Call after 3 months for 02 weeks every month.
Log Book:
Candidate will maintain a log book for the duration of training documenting all minor or major procedures, which will be noted as being done under observation, under supervision, and independent working. Candidate will be required to work independently (with supervision) in the last 2 months.
Career Prospects
After training completion, the candidate can perform independently nonvascular common procedures and be a better team member of the vascular and interventional radiology department to give palliative and crucial patient care in tertiary care hospitals.
Appraisal
We propose a documented 3600 feedback system including
- Appraisal of Candidate by supervisor ( every 2 months)
- Appraisal of Supervisor by candidate ( every 2 months)
Presentation / Journal clubs and Meetings
We propose to follow a monthly schedule of,
2 presentations (one from candidate and one from supervisor)
1 journal club
1 morbidity mortality/ complication meeting
1 meeting for advancement of tools
In Addition
- The candidate will focus on patient care and quality during the first 3 months
- Candidate must have to write 2 research papers in any reputed journal under supervision during training.
- Candidate must attend the tumor board meeting / grand rounds & Mutlidisciplinary team Meeting (MDT).
